DBT is an evidence-based treatment originally developed for people with Borderline Personality Disorder, but has also been indicated by research to be effective for depression, suicidality, self harm, anxiety, substance use, anger management, PTSD, and eating disorders.

In effect, DBT is useful for anyone who has difficulty regulating your emotions (i.e. feeling emotionally out of balance, emotions feeling like they are out of your control, taking a long period of time to feel better), and has a history of emotional invalidation from others that may have become incorporated as your own internal voice.

DBT incorporates skills from CBT along with mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, problem solving, & contingency management.

It establishes a delicate balance between identifying areas in your life to change (behaviors, responses, thoughts, emotions), along with aspects to accept and validate.

This is all with the purpose of helping you to build a life that you can honor and value.
