Brainspotting Intensives
in Los Angeles for
Accelerated Trauma Healing

A Brainspotting intensive condenses weeks of trauma therapy into a focused one- or two-day session. Our Brainspotting intensive therapists in Los Angeles, Gonji Lee, LCSW #88522, and Leslie Yick, AMFT #147779 / APCC #17060, offer virtual Brainspotting intensives to clients across California. These accelerated, body-based sessions are designed for BIPOC, LGBTQ+, QTIBIPOC, and neurodivergent people who want to go deep on trauma without waiting months between weekly appointments.

What Is a Brainspotting Intensive?

A Brainspotting intensive is an extended, focused block of Brainspotting therapy, typically three to six hours of processing, rather than a standard 50-minute weekly session.

Weekly therapy has a built-in rhythm: you settle in, begin to reach something real, and then the hour ends, often right as the work is opening up. A Brainspotting intensive removes that stop-and-start cycle. Instead of processing in one-hour increments spread across months, you set aside a dedicated block of time to follow the work wherever it leads.

This format is a natural fit for how Brainspotting actually works. Brainspotting is non-linear and largely non-verbal, so your nervous system can keep processing without having to construct a narrative or stop to explain each step. Given uninterrupted time and space, that processing can go somewhere profound.

Many people accomplish in one or two days of intensive work what might otherwise take months of weekly sessions to reach. An intensive is not a shortcut around the work, it is a concentrated container for it, with a clear focus, enough room to move through difficult material, and a dedicated follow-up session to help you integrate.

An intensive offers a concentrated block of time, a clear purpose, and enough room to move through something rather than just circle around it.

Every Brainspotting intensive at Nokdu Therapy is delivered virtually over secure video to clients located anywhere in California, so you can do deep trauma work from a space where you already feel safe.

Who a Brainspotting Intensive Is For

Intensives are not right for everyone or every moment. They tend to fit people who are ready to immerse, and who have a specific focus in mind.

You've hit a wall in weekly therapy

The work has been real, but the same patterns keep resurfacing and the same memories still carry charge. You're ready for a different way of working.

Your schedule fights the weekly model

Shooting schedules, long production hours, travel, caregiving, or unpredictable freelance work can make a standing weekly appointment nearly impossible.

You want focused work on one thing

A specific trauma, a recurring pattern, a performance block, or an internal conflict you're ready to move through with dedicated time and attention.

You want adjunctive work

You have a therapist you value who doesn't offer Brainspotting. Intensives work well alongside existing therapy, and we're happy to coordinate.

You're neurodivergent and work differently

If you hit your stride just as a session ends, a concentrated block with a single clear focus may simply suit how your mind engages.

You do your deepest work immersed

Some people simply go further when they can drop in and stay there, rather than starting again from the surface each week.

If you're in acute crisis, or haven't yet built a baseline of nervous system regulation, weekly Brainspotting therapy or stabilization work may be a better starting point. During your free consultation, we'll be honest about whether an intensive is the right fit for you right now.

How a Brainspotting Intensive Works

Every intensive is structured around four elements, from first contact through integration. The pace is deliberate: we build a stable foundation before moving toward anything difficult.

1

Consultation Call

A no-pressure 30-minute call to talk through what you're working with, which format might fit, and whether an intensive is the right next step. There's no obligation.

2

Extended Intake & Preparation

A 90-minute intake session lays the groundwork: your history, your goals for the intensive, and what you need to feel safe enough to go there. We build somatic resourcing and grounding skills so that when deeper material arises, you have something solid to work from.

3

The Brainspotting Intensive

The heart of the work: three hours of focused Brainspotting processing per day (spread across two days in the 2-day format). We begin by settling the nervous system, then move into processing, with movement, grounding, and breathing woven in between. Because we have time, we can slow down or pause without losing the thread.

4

Follow-Up & Integration

A 60-minute follow-up session helps you make sense of what shifted. Deep work can stir things up, and integration is where it settles. We can also connect the intensive to ongoing IFS, DBT, or weekly Brainspotting if continued support would help.

Brainspotting Intensives for BIPOC & LGBTQ+ Communities in Los Angeles

Nokdu Therapy is a QTIBIPOC-led practice. Our Brainspotting intensives are built to hold racial, intergenerational, and identity-based trauma, not to work around it.

Much of the trauma that BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and QTIBIPOC people carry cannot be reduced to a single incident. Racial injury, microaggressions, medical racism, immigration and displacement, family estrangement, and the daily toll of moving through unsafe environments compound over time and register in the nervous system. A Brainspotting intensive offers uninterrupted time to process material that can be hard to reach in weekly increments.

Because Brainspotting is body-based and non-verbal, you don't have to narrate a story that puts you back in a difficult place. And because our intensive therapists bring lived experience as queer, neurodivergent, and Asian American clinicians, you won't need to explain your contexts or justify why certain environments feel unsafe.

Learn more about our weekly trauma therapy and LGBTQ+ affirming therapy, or our BIPOC DBT Skills Group, which can build regulation skills that support intensive processing.

Racial & Intergenerational Trauma

Uninterrupted time to process the cumulative weight of racism and cycles rooted in survival, loss, and displacement passed through families.

Identity-Based Harm

Homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, and ableism live in the body. An intensive creates space to process what systemic harm does to the nervous system.

Immigration & Displacement

Focused support for first-generation and immigrant clients navigating hypervigilance, and the grief of belonging nowhere fully.

QTIBIPOC at the Intersections

You don't have to separate parts of yourself to do the work. We hold the full complexity of your identities in one container.

Common Questions About Brainspotting Intensives

What is a Brainspotting intensive and how is it different from weekly Brainspotting sessions?

A Brainspotting intensive is an extended, focused block of Brainspotting therapy, typically three to six hours of processing, rather than a standard 50-minute weekly session. Weekly Brainspotting builds over time with a stop-and-start rhythm. An intensive removes that interruption and gives your nervous system uninterrupted time to move through complex material. Many people accomplish in one or two days of intensive work what might take months of weekly sessions to reach.

How long is a Brainspotting intensive and what does it include?

We offer two formats. The 1-day virtual intensive is six hours total and includes a 30-minute consultation call, a 90-minute intake session, a 3-hour Brainspotting intensive, and a 60-minute follow-up session. The 2-day virtual intensive is nine hours total and includes a 30-minute consultation call, a 90-minute intake session, two 3-hour Brainspotting intensive sessions, and a 60-minute follow-up session. Both formats are conducted online for clients located in California.

How much does a Brainspotting intensive cost?

The 1-day virtual Brainspotting intensive is $1,200 and the 2-day virtual Brainspotting intensive is $1,800. Payment plans are available for both. Nokdu Therapy is out-of-network with insurance, though clients with a PPO plan that covers out-of-network mental health services may be able to submit a superbill for partial reimbursement.

Can I do a Brainspotting intensive online in California?

Yes. All of our Brainspotting intensives are conducted virtually over secure video. Brainspotting is fully effective online because the nervous system responds to bilateral sound and to the relational attunement of the therapist regardless of physical distance. Intensives are available to any client physically located in California at the time of the session.

Who is a Brainspotting intensive right for?

Intensives tend to fit people who have hit a wall in weekly therapy, who want focused work on a specific trauma or pattern, or whose schedules make consistent weekly appointments difficult. They also suit people who simply do their deepest work when they can immerse fully rather than start again each week. During your consultation, we will talk honestly about whether an intensive is the right format for you right now, or whether weekly sessions or stabilization work should come first.

Can I do a Brainspotting intensive if I already have a therapist?

Yes. Many people come for intensive work as a focused supplement to their existing therapy. We are happy to coordinate with your current therapist before and after the intensive if that would be helpful. The intake session gives us what we need to work safely and effectively together, whether or not you have an ongoing therapist.

Is a Brainspotting intensive covered by insurance?

Nokdu Therapy is not in-network with any insurance companies. If you have a PPO plan that covers out-of-network mental health services, you may be able to submit a superbill for partial reimbursement. Payment plans are available for both intensive formats. If cost is a concern, please mention it during your free consultation.

Do you offer Brainspotting intensives for BIPOC and LGBTQ+ clients?

Yes. Nokdu Therapy is a QTIBIPOC-led practice, and our Brainspotting intensive therapists bring lived experience as queer, neurodivergent, and Asian American clinicians. Our intensives are designed to hold racial, intergenerational, and identity-based trauma without asking you to explain or justify your contexts. If you are looking for a BIPOC or LGBTQ+-affirming Brainspotting intensive in Los Angeles or anywhere in California, we would love to connect.
